Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Traditionally networks have always been used as simple “dumb” connectivity pipes. Advanced networks such as 5G/Wi-Fi 6/6G are more than a pipe with their:
- Cloud-native
- Modular and Service-oriented architecture
- Programmable – Developers can access network services through standard and proprietary interfaces.
The above characteristics allow enterprise customers to choose capabilities (Radio Unit/Customer Unit/Data Unit/Core/Controllers/Access Points) from multiple vendors to build their private cellular networks. While this approach benefits enterprise customers in many ways, it also creates an interoperability challenge for applications interacting with the network through programmable interfaces and adjusting their behavior in real time.
Shabodi NetAware programmable network platform (NetAware)
- Addresses the interoperability problem by providing developers with common APIs without worrying about individual vendor APIs.
- Second, because of Shabodi’s common and simple API interfaces, developers can rapidly build powerful applications without becoming experts on telecom standards or vendor-specific APIs.
We provide well-documented developer onboarding content/videos/sample code that is targeted at IT professionals deploying the networks and developers who are building enterprise applications. Shabodi also offers training services on advanced network programming with Shabodi NetAware programmable network platform and implementation training.
NetAware programmable network platform can be used in all verticals & industries that have deployed an advanced network.
We simplify the building of Network-Aware Applications by abstracting the complexities of an advanced network so that you do not need to review any of the telecommunications or advanced networking standards.
We are partnered with Industry leaders and NEPs (Network Equipment Providers) in the Commercial Advanced Network space. Please reach out to us to find out more.
We understand that for developing network-aware applications, it is unrealistic to expect developers to learn the highly complex networking technologies. We abstract the network model from an application centric model, allowing developers to integrate with the network using simple APIs that they are already familiar with. This leads to quicker development time and faster GTM (Go to Market) with their applications.
Exposing simple APIs to developers drives innovation through powerful applications. Here are a couple of examples:
- Stripe has revolutionized the payment processing process.
- Twilio simplified adding messaging (SMS), voice, and video call capabilities into applications and websites. Applications like Lyft/Uber use Twilio’s APIs to communicate to the end user about the driver’s location.
In 5G, the network APIs are rich and expose network functionalities beyond messaging, voice, and video call capabilities to developers. To access such APIs and build advanced applications, developers must become telecom experts, know the standards, and orchestrate calls across multiple network functions.
Shabodi’s NetAware programmable network platform, like Twilio or Stripe platforms, provides simplified APIs for modifying complex network capabilities within the application, thereby creating advanced applications for industrial use cases.
Shabodi’s Network-Aware Application Enablement Platform Exposes several network service capabilities. Some examples are:
- Quality on Demand (Bandwidth on Demand)
- Requesting specific latency to deliver real-time video stream.
- Notification APIs when a user’s equipment moves between the cell areas
- Controlling the message burst rate coming from several sensors
- Deterministic routing
Application developers can call the above Shabodi Network-Aware APIs and incorporate them into their applications to make them network-aware in just three steps, as shown in the NetAware architecture below. The most common applications are Industry 4.0 use cases where failure is not an option, such as warehouse automation with autonomous guided vehicles, industrial automation with autonomous mobile robots, productivity through drone-based remote inspections, remote mentoring, video analytics, and many more.
